Directorate of Health Services

Directorate of Health Services looks after the promotion & curative aspect of Health and Family Welfare Department from State Hospitals to Sub-divisional Hospitals.

  1. There are six State Hospitals namely (1) Agartala Govt. Medical College & G. B. Pant Hospital (2) Atal Bihari Vajpayee Regional Cancer Centre (3) I.G.M. Hospital (4) Netaji Subhash State Homeopathic Hospital (5) State Ayurvedic Hospital at State Head Quarter at Agartala (6) Modern Psychiatric Hospital at Narsinghar.
  2. There are six District Hospitals, namely (1) District Hospital, North at Dharmanagar (2) District Hospital, Unakoti at Kailashahar, (3) District Hospital, Dhalai at Kulai, (4) District Hospital, Khowai at Khowai (5) District Hospital, Gomati at Udaipur, (6) District Hospital South, Santirbazar.
  3. In Tripura there are 15 Sub-divisional Hospitals namely (1) Kanchanpur Sub-divisional Hospital and (2) Panisagar sub-divisional Hospital under North District (3) R. G. M. Sub-divisional Hospital and (4) Kumarghat sub-divisional Hospital under Unakoti District (5) Longtarai Valley Sub-divisional Hospital (6) BSM (Kamalpur) sub-divisional Hospital and (7) Gandacherra Sub-divisional Hospital under Dhalai District (8) Teliamura Sub-divisional Hospital under Khowai District (9) Bishalgarh Sub-divisional Hospital and (10) Melaghar Sub-divisional Hospital under Sepahijala District (11) T. S. Sub-divisional Hospital, (12) Karbook sub-divisional Hospital and (13) Amarpur Sub-divisional Hospital under Gomati District (14) Belonia Sub-divisional Hospital and (15) Sabroom sub-divisional under South District.
  4. The above 06 (six) State Hospitals, 06 (six) District Hospitals and 15 (fifteen) Sub-divisional Hospitals are mainly looking curative aspect of the State. The Medical Superintendents are the administrative head of the State and District Hospitals and Sub-divisional Medical Officers are looking after the Sub-divisional Hospitals.
  5. There are two other wings like Homeopathy and Ayurvedic system of treatment available in the State.
  6. Apart from one State level Homeopathic and one State level Ayurvedic Hospitals in the State H.Q, there are all together 70 Homeopathic, 36 Ayurvedic Dispensaries and 3 Satellite Ayurvedic Dispensary spread over all 8 Districts where Homeopathic / Ayurvedic Doctors and Pharmacists are working.
  7. Drug control administration is also under the control of Directorate of Health Services having a State level Drug Testing Laboratory.

Achievement made during 2023-24 (Up to 30th November, 2023)

  • State Government has made relentless efforts to strengthen the Health infrastructure in Tripura. State Government has set up ‘Agartala Government Dental College’ at IGM Hospital complex with an investment of Rs.14.80 cr. Dental College will start functioning from the academic session of 2023-24 with an annual intake capacity of 50 students in BDS course.
  • Nomenclature of posts of different nursing categories are changes.
  • In view to fill up 40 posts of Tutor (erstwhile Sister Tutor), meeting of DPC has been conducted. Now the matter is under consideration of TPSC.
  • Administrative works for modification of Recruitment Rules for the post of Dietician is under process.
  • In order to fill up promotional posts of Drivers from Group-D staff, proposal has been sent to all Addl. District Magistrate & Collectors (Chairman of Committee) to conduct practical test and interview.
  • To filled up the direct posts of Pharmacist (Allo), Laboratory Technician, Pharmacist (Homoeo) & Pharmacist (Ayur), online application has been received and file initiated for conducting written examination shortly.
  • JRBT has recruited and give 176 posts of LDC for Health & Family Welfare Department, Offer has already issued.
  • Offer of appointment given under die-in-harness scheme-(43-Group-Cand 04-Group-D).
  • Nurses Training Institute in IGM Hospital complex has been up-graded into a College of Nursing for B.Sc. (Nursing) course. With intake capacity  50 students per year from the academic year 2023-24. Besides, ANM Training Institute, Udaipur, Gomati has also been up-graded into a GNM course with intake capacity of 40 per year from the academic year 2023-24.
  • Under the Tripura Health Assurance Scheme for the Poor (THAPS), total 87(eighty seven) Patients are benefitted and total Rs.56,27,091/- has been utilized during the years 2022-23 (Up to 30/11/2023).
  • 03(three) numbers of SDH has been inaugurated which has been up graded from CHC (Panisagar SDH inaugurated on 11/02/2022, Kumarghat SDH inaugurated on 26/03/2022, Karbook SDH inaugurated on 16/11/2022).
  • Trauma Care Centre’s has been inaugurated in Gomati District Hospital at Tepania, Udaipur, Tripura (Level-III) on 16/12/2022, Santirbazar District Hospital (Level-III) inaugurated on 31/12/2022, Dhalai District Hospital (Level-III)inaugurated on 18/08/2022.
  • Completion of construction works of Super Specialty Block at AGMC & GBP Hospital.
  • 38 nos. candidates have been given appointment to the post of LD Clerk on fixed pay basis in die-in harness scheme.
  • 30 nos. candidates have been given appointment to the post of Group-D on fixed pay basis in die-in harness scheme.
  • 05(five) nos. Computer has been promoted to the post of Inspector (Vital Statistic) on ad-hoc basis.
  • 06(six) nos. Field Worker has been promoted to the post of LDC on ad-hoc basis.
  • 20(twenty) nos. Group-D staffs have been promoted to the post of Driver.
  • 54 numbers of Post Graduate seats have been increased from 25 PG seats to 79 PG seats at AGMC, Agartala. Amongst these 50% seats are for State Quota and 50% for All India Quota.
  • 25 number seats were increased in MBBS Course in AGMC, Agartala making a total of 125 seats for instituting 10% of the total recognized seats for EWS Quota.
  • High End Radio Imaging Devices (CT scan, MRI, USG and Digital X-ray) have been installed and patients are treated and diagnosed with new medical technology.
  • Mera Aspataal Portal a digital India initiative of MoHFW, Gol for the better benefit of the Cancer patients have been introduced and linked up with the e-hospital platform of ABVRCC.

Financial Year 2022-23

  • Oxygen Plant (1050 LMP) is installed at IGM Hospital
  • An Orthopedic Spine Surgeon provides regular Orthopedic Services in the OPD & the necessary Procedures for the Spine Surgery are nearing Completion.
  • 4 No. of Sophisticated Dental Chair have been installed in the Dental Department.
  • OPG (ORTHOPANTOMAGRAM) is also introduced in Dental Department.
  • 2(two) year Post MBBS Diploma Course under NBEMS in the four discipline namely Obst. & Gynae, Ophthalmology, Pediatrics & Family Medicine has been introduced and 20 students have been admitted.
  • At present 10 (Ten) Government Ambulances are operational.
  • Cadre strength of THS from 1480 to 2170 has been increased & creation of two sub Cadre namely General Duty Medical Officer Cadre & Specialist Medical Officer Cadre (19th Amendment of Tripura Health Service Rules, 1974).
  • Under the Tripura Health Assurance Scheme for the Poor (THAPS), total 153(one hundred fifty three) Patients are benefitted and total Rs.1,30,97,401/- has been utilized during the years 2022-2023.

 

Financial Year 2021-22

  • Cadre strength of Tripura Dental Service Rules, 1995 has been increased from 81 to 123.
  • Under the Tripura Health Assurance Scheme for the Poor (THAPS), total 329(three hundred twenty nine) Patients are benefitted and total Rs.2,55,26,171/- has been utilized during the years 2021-22.

Financial Year 2020-21

  • 16 nos. PG (MD/MS) seats in four new Departments started in AGMC in 2019 making a total of 79 seats in 19 departments.
  • Medicinal plant garden established in RIPSAT Rs. 23 lakhs approved for renovation of college library, Rs 11lakhs approved for setting up computer regulatory. To meet their requirement AICTE and PCI Rs. 28 lakhs approved for infrastructure development and renovation.
  • 265 new seats have been increased including B.Sc, M.Sc, Post Basic Nursing, ANM, GNM in various institutions under the Directorate of Medical Education.
  • Total 190 new seats have been increased in various courses of pharmacy including B.Pharm, D Pharm, practice, D. Pharm (Ayur), D Pharm (Homoeo) in RIPSAT & Bharat Pharmaceutical Technology, Amtali.
  • 54 number of Post Graduate seats have been increased from 25 PG seats to 79 PG seats at AGMC, Agartala. Amongst these 50% seats are for State Quota and 50% for All India Quota.
  • 25 number seats were increased in MBBS Course in AGMC, Agartala making a total of 125 seats for instituting 10% of the total recognized seats for EWS Quota.
  • Onco surgery unit has been started on 26th February, 2021.
  • For Cancer patient’s wellbeing, State Government has started interrogative Oncology w.e.f. 10th June, 2021 through traditional medicine (i.e. AYURVEDA & HOMEOPATHY) where complementary and alternative medicine with conventional Cancer treatment modalities is used to manage symptoms and improvement the state of mental comfort of cancer patients.
  • Hospital Management interface System (HMIS) namely e-hospital project is running throughout the hospital for keeping records and gear up the patient services at desktop of every work station.
  • “Mera Aspataal Portal” a digital India initiative of MoHFW, GoI for the better benefit of the Cancer patients have been introduced and linked up with the e-hospital platform of ABVRCC.
  • 1000 LMP Oxygen Plant has been successfully commissioned and connected with hospital Medical Gas Pipeline System (MGPS).
  • 90 number of seats have been increased in B. Pharm
  • 30 numbers of seats have been increased in B. Pharm.
  • 40 number of seats have been increased in B. Pharm
  • PCI and AICTE has approved for starting 15 seats for M. Pharm Course in RIPSAT.
  • One new Pharmacy Institute (Bharat Pharmaceutical Technology has been established at Amtali, West Tripura with 60 seats in D. Pharm Course and 60 seats for B. Pharm Course.
  • 4 number of Nursing Training Institute have been established.
  • 265 numbers of seats have been increased in Nursing Courses in various Nursing Institute of Tripura

Financial Year 2019-20

  • Increase of 38 PG seats in 11 different disciplines at Agartala Government Medical College for 2020-21.
  • 25 additional seats in MBBS course have been given to Agartala Government Medical College by MCI to 10% reservation for EWS (Economically Weaker Section)
  • 20(twenty more seats increase in Tripura Institute of Paramedical Science School and College of Nursing Hapania for B.Sc Nursing and 25 seats for M.Sc Nursing for academic year 2020-21.
  • Introduction of ANM Course in the following four institute 40 seats in ICFAI University, 40 seats in Hepatitis Foundation of Tripura Institute of Nursing Science, 40 seats in Sarbodhaya Nursing Institute, 30 seats in North East Nursing Institute of Nursing Sciences.
  • UG/PG(MD/MS)bond-A modified form of bond is prepared and approved by the Govt. of Tripura to execute before admission to UG & PG courses of Tripura domiciled seats.
  • USG Guideline is prepared for undergoing training course of USG under PC & PNDT Act from 2020. 5 seats crated for each 6 monthly training course 1st session from 1st January, 2nd session from 1st July from each year.
  • High End Medical Equipment (Linear Accelerator, PET-CT Scan, Mammography, CT Simulator) have been successfully commissioned. So, patients are benefited through all the protocol based treatment in the State.
  • High End Radio Imaging Devices (CT Scan, MRI, USG and Digital X-ray) have been installed and patients are treated and diagnosed with new medical technology.
  • Under the Tripura Health Assurance Scheme for the Poor (THAPS), total 569(five hundred sixty nine) Patients are benefitted and total Rs.4,13,28,912/- has been utilized during the years 2022-23 (Up to 30/11/2023).

 

Financial Year 2018-19

 

  • Enhancement of re-employment age after retirement from Govt, service in respect of Medical Officer (Allo.), Medical Officer (Homoeo) & Medical Officer (Dental) from 60 years to 65 years.
  • Online Counseling for MBBS, BDS and Post Graduate Medical Course admission on the basis of NEET merit list was started for first time in 2018-19.
  • PG Diploma Course at IGm Hospital under College of Physician & Surgeon(CPS) in three different discipline (DCH,DGO and DPB) started from 2018-19 academic session.
  • D Pharma (Allopathy) Course  of RIPSAT which was derecognized has been re-affiliated & restarted with 25 seats.
  •  Under the Tripura Health Assurance Scheme for the Poor (THAPS), total 954(nine hundred fifty four) Patients are benefitted and total Rs.3,87,88,931/- has been utilized during the years 2018-19.
